The Bluewater Bay stories can be enjoyed in any order — jump in wherever you'd like!
Thirty-seven-year-old Nate Albano’s second relationship ever ended three years ago, and since he’s grace — gray asexual — he doesn’t anticipate beating the odds to find a third. Still, he’s got his dog, his hobbies, and his job as a special effects technician on Wolf’s Landing, so he can’t complain — much.
Seth Larson, umpteenth generation Bluewater Bay, is the quintessential good-time guy, content with tending bar and being his grandmother’s handyman. The night they meet, Seth’s looking for some recreational sex to escape family drama. But for Nate, romantic attraction comes before sexual attraction, so while Seth thinks they’re hooking up, Nate just wants to talk . . . genealogy?
Dude. Seriously?
So they declare a “just friends” truce. Then Seth asks for Nate’s help investigating a sinister Larson family secret, and their feelings start edging way beyond platonic. But Nate may want more than Seth can give him, and Seth may not be able to leave his good-time image behind. Unless they can find a way to merge carefree with commitment, they could miss out on true love —
the best time of all.

For a Good Time Call Bluewater Bay Book 17 edition by Anne Tenino EJ Russell Romance eBooks
I am a major Bluewater Bay fan, and really enjoyed the first 16 books, each a gem in its own way. That is an impressive record for such a long series. So I can't really complain. But this one really missed the boat, and I found myself asking "Wait, what?" a lot ... chapter 3 being an example of the confusing and disjointed story telling here. Yikes!
Here's hoping book 18 gets back on track. I am not giving up just yet on Bluewater Bay.

For a Good Time Call Bluewater Bay Book 17 edition by Anne Tenino EJ Russell Romance eBooks Reviews
My Review
I'll admit, I had a really difficult time with this book...to the point where I considered not finishing it a few times. The problem...there are a LOT of characters and it was seriously difficult (for me) to keep sorted who was who. I kept having to stop and go back to sort through who was who, which made it really difficult to get into the story. Eventually I did settle into it, though. Note If I hadn't been completely enamored with this entire series, I don't think I would have stuck with it.
So, this story...Nate is part of the Wolf's Landing crew. He works on special effects and there's some history to his backstory of how he got here...after burning all his bridges in Hollywood. Nate is asexual and doesn't think he'll ever find anyone else again who he connects with enough to make a real relationship work.
Seth grew up in Bluewater Bay. He has quite a reputation around town that was somewhat unfairly earned. He's seen as flighty, although that's not really fair to him either. He's never been in a real relationship. The guys he dates don't see him as a forever kind of guy. The town of Bluewater Bay...including most of his family...really underestimate him.
There were lots of themes/plot lines to this book that had great potential, but were never fully fleshed out...Nate's history in Hollywood and his blowout there, Seth's dream of being a great bartender. I wanted more from these, but in the end they seemed to be brushed aside with just a sentence or paragraph of explanation. There was also no real resolution for the story line at the small theater and the guys' possible future there...which was an obvious solution to some parts of the story line.
Overall, this was an unsatisfying read. I really liked both guys and thought their conflict had the most potential of all the various story lines in the book. It was almost like the authors tried to put too much into the story and it all got lost because of that, which is a shame because I did really like both Nate and Seth and how things work between the two of them.
So, not a great review...which I hate, but I do love this world and the glimpses we got behind the scenes of the special effects both on the tv set and in other venues.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I rarely "throw in the towel" when it come to reading a book but I gave up on this one very early on. Way too many characters and too much blabbering on and on. I was less than 5% in before I tossed my kindle aside. It is not often that I don't finish a book but this one is going on the scarp pile.
One of my favorite authors, and a different approach to relationships. Very enjoyable story.
The story not the hooking up is the fun read of this book. Had a hard time keeping the two main characters identified. It could just be me but still....
Would love to see more romance books with 'grace' or greysexual characters. It does wonderful job showing some people need to develop romantic feelings before attraction happens.
There were moments while reading this book that I forgot it was a romance novel. It's just that the romantic element felt like a subplot to all the craziness going on regarding Seth's familial estate, but we happened to also spend a lot of time in Nate's brain as he angsted about Seth.
Despite the revitalization thanks to the "Hollywood invasion," this book really brought to life the fact that the town of Bluewater Bay was around long beforehand. I enjoyed learning more about the town's history, especially because the Larson story brought to life some of the darker aspects of American history that should not be forgotten.
Due to Nate's sexuality, the slow burn of friendship to romance in this book was sweet rather than overtly sexy. The necessary romantic conflict at the end was a realistic breakdown in communication caused by Seth and Nate's very different life experiences.
Like most of my favorite Bluewater Bay books so far, the couple didn't exist in a vacuum. The secondary characters in this story, such as Nate's BFF Morgan and Seth's delightful grandmother, really brought this tale to life.
Yikes!
